Tokyo's landmarks keep different hours after dark. Tokyo Tower's deck opens until 11pm; the temple in Asakusa closes its hall at 5pm and lights the outside. Before you book Tokyo Night guided tours, check what each landmark does at night and which tours stop there.

What it is: Tokyo Tower is a 333 m lattice tower in Shibakoen, Minato. Its Main Deck is at 150 m, and the Top Deck Tour takes you on to 250 m.
After dark: The Main Deck opens until 11pm, with last entry at 10:30pm, and the last entry can come earlier when it is busy. The Top Deck Tour runs until 10:45pm, with last entry at 10:15pm, and can stop in bad weather. The tower is lit from sunset to 10pm.
Tickets: The Main Deck costs ¥1,500 for an adult. The Top Deck Tour costs ¥3,300 online or ¥3,500 at the counter.
Getting there: From Akabanebashi on the Oedo Line, you walk 5 minutes. From Kamiyacho on the Hibiya Line, exit 1, you walk 7 minutes.
On which tours: The private driver-guided evenings stop outside for 20 to 30 minutes, and most car-meet drives stop for photos. None of them includes a deck ticket. The dinner cruise sells a Main Deck ticket as an option.

What it is: Tokyo Skytree is the broadcast tower in Oshiage, Sumida, in the east of the city. Its Tembo Deck is at 350 m and its Tembo Galleria at 450 m.
After dark: The decks open from 10am to 10pm, and you must be in by 9pm. In 2026 it closed for a day as a typhoon approached, so check before you go on a stormy day.
Tickets: From ¥1,800 for an adult on the Tembo Deck, or from ¥3,000 for both decks. If you buy on site, you pay ¥500 more a ticket, so book online.
On which tours: The private driver-guided evening that loops the city stops at Tokyo Skytree for about 20 minutes. The after-dark drive passes it.
What it is: Shibuya Sky is an open-air rooftop deck at 229 m on Shibuya Scramble Square, with an indoor gallery below it. It looks straight down on the crossing.
After dark: It opens from 10am to 10:30pm, and you must be in by 9:20pm. The hours can change, and the rooftop can close in bad weather or wind, so you may see the view from the indoor gallery instead.
On which tours: The Shibuya rooftop walk includes the ticket, at $102.70 a person: an hour in the streets, then an hour on the deck. The operator does not promise a sunset or a clear view.
What it is: Rainbow Bridge is the suspension bridge across Tokyo Bay to Odaiba, the waterfront district on reclaimed land.
On which tours: The dinner cruise passes Rainbow Bridge on its way to Odaiba. The private drives stop at Rainbow Bridge for about ten minutes, and one spends 40 minutes at Daiba. The customizable drive and the after-dark drive stop at Odaiba's Statue of Liberty replica.
What it is: The city government's twin towers in Nishi-Shinjuku, with an observatory on the 45th floor of each.
After dark: The South Observatory opens from 9:30am to 10pm, with entry until 9:30pm. The North Observatory closes at 5:30pm. Both close from 29 to 31 December and on 2 and 3 January.
Tickets: Free. The South closes on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
On which tours: None goes up. The Shinjuku hidden-gems walk spends ten minutes in Nishi-Shinjuku, and you can go up on your own afterwards.
What it is: Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple, in Asakusa, with its Main Hall, five-storey pagoda and two great gates.
After dark: The buildings are lit every evening from sunset to about 11pm, so you can walk the grounds after dinner. You can only go into the Main Hall from 6am to 5pm, or from 6:30am between October and March.

In Shinjuku, what you come to see after dark is the streets themselves. Golden Gai is a grid of tiny bars. Omoide Yokocho is a lane of grills and bars beside the tracks. Photography is prohibited in parts of both. Kabukicho, the entertainment district between them, is lit by signs on every building.
Above Kabukicho, a giant Godzilla Head looks down on the street. The after-dark drive stops there for about 30 minutes, and the Shinjuku photo tour shoots nearby. The walks and bar nights are compared on Shinjuku night tours.
For car fans, the attraction is a car park. The Daikoku Parking Area is a rest stop on the Bayshore Route in Yokohama, where owners gather after dark. It sits on the expressway, so you arrive by car. It is public, and police can close it without notice. If that happens on your night, the drive takes you to other car spots instead.
